- 2 packets ramen or other instant noodles discard seasoning
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil or more oil
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- ½ onion sliced
- 200 g / 7oz beef mince ground beef
- 1 ¼ cups 315 ml water, plus more as needed
- Big handful of bean sprouts
- Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce or Hoisin sauce
- 2 teaspoons Hoisin sauce or more oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- Garnishes optional:
- Finely sliced green onions shallots
- Sesame seeds
Prepare the Noodles: Boil ramen noodles according to package instructions, but slightly undercook them (about 1 minute less than instructed). Drain and set aside.
Cook the Beef: Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add onion and sauté for 1-2 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 3-4 minutes).
Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, Hoisin sauce, and mirin.
Combine Everything: Add 1¼ cups water to the pan and bring to a simmer. Add the cooked ramen noodles and sauce, stirring well to coat everything evenly.
Final Touches: Toss in bean sprouts and cook for another 30 seconds, adding more water if needed to loosen the sauce.
Garnish & Serve: Remove from heat and top with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately.
